Reading and learning!

I find it so strange how we change as we get older - I must admit to never having been a bookworm or even an occasional reader.   During my years at school I never read the books I was supposed to, I even took English Literature for O level, but unsurprisingly failed!!  And the first book I can ever remember reading in full was Bravo 2 Zero!   

Nowadays however as far as I am concerned that has all changed - a good holiday requires a good book to read, but only autobiographical or maybe work related.  Whilst I’ve been off work, I have had time to do some serious reading, and it’s only confirmed that I definitely should have read more earlier in life!  Most of my recent reading has been business-type books, and I only wish I had been encouraged or shown what you can learn for yourself.  

We all spend a large part of our lives at work  and it helps shape our lives, so if you are going to do something for 40 hours a week, it’s far better if you learn how to improve how and what you do- even the best can get better - or just understand why you do what you do. The interesting thing is that because I have found the reading I have done so fulfilling, I now want to encourage others, including my great team, to learn what they can discover, help them to develop and achieve the very best for themselves -  and we now have a couple of new recruits at work, so I am keen to broaden their knowledge too with my new literary suggestions.
