Accounts Manager (with Payroll responsibilities)

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Manager to join our accounts department based in Hunslet, Leeds. The role reports to the Finance Director. The role will require you to work to set procedures on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, working closely with the sales administration department and Department Managers. You will be involved in doing various account reconciliations and assist in taking the accounts up to trial balance. A key part of the role will be the operation and administration of the SAGE payroll and auto enrolment pension system.

Your main duties will include:

  • Operating the SAGE monthly payroll and Auto Enrolment process
  • Banking duties including payment of vehicle purchases and vehicle settlements
  • Reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Management and control of the Suzuki and Mitsubishi bonus accounts
  • Assisting in the preparation of month end Management accounts within 8 working days
  • Completion of the Suzuki monthly composite.
  • Supporting the two Accounts Assistants when required  
  • Resolving any on site accounts queries & issues.
  • Carry out physical vehicle stock checks twice a year
  • Any Ad hoc duties as requested by the Finance Director 

Essential Skills

  • Payroll and Auto Enrolment experience (ideally SAGE)
  • Good bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of double entry routines
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to sort and reconcile data in an efficient manner
  • Ability to schedule work and show initiative to improve procedures where appropriate
  • Can work successfully in pressurised situations & can handle conflicting demands
  • Can learn to work with new software quickly and efficiently and is enthusiastic, flexible & committed
  • Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills to meets deadlines without compromising the quality of work
  • Exemplary communication skills and discretion with both company and personal confidential and sensitive information
  • Ideally motor trade experience working in an Accounts environment within a franchise or independent dealership
  • Ideally motor trade DMS experience (Kerridge ADP or Pinnacle)

The successful candidate will benefit from a 3 month handover from a very experienced Accounts Director who is planning to retire in mid 2018.

First interviews will be held with the Accounts Director (Stuart Tillotson) and Finance Director (David Taylor) with a final interview with the Managing Director (Robin Luscombe) and David Taylor.

Start date to be no later than March 2018.

Salary  - competitive based on experience
